Ritratto di Mariano Fortuny

Museo Fortuny 50

Cinquantesimo Anniversario del Museo Fortuny

The Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia invites all citizens to take part in the celebrations marking the fiftieth anniversary of the opening of the Museo Fortuny to the public; a Venetian treasure chest of history and art, long a point of reference for residents and an inexhaustible source of inspiration for artists from around the world.

To honor this important milestone, works and objects from the Fortuny collection that are normally not on display due to their delicacy and fragility will be exceptionally exhibited within the permanent collection, some of them for the very first time.

On this occasion, the cycle of conferences scheduled at the museum for autumn 2025 and spring 2026 will also be presented. The program is dedicated to the life and work of Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo and Henriette Nigrin, his partner in both life and art, whose death marks its sixtieth anniversary this year. It was from her bequest to the city of Venice in 1956 that the museum originated.

The day of celebrations will be further enriched by a film screening featuring archival footage from the Fortuny collection, accompanied by live musical improvisations. Evocative melodies and rhythms will intertwine with the images on the big screen, offering the audience a unique and engaging immersive experience.

To crown this special event, live music featuring Venetian bands will enliven Campo San Beneto in the evening.
