FRANCESCO CANDELORO, City of Cities

Progetto

CITY OF CITIES is a site-specific installation by Francesco Candeloro (Venice, 1974), articulated in a series of large works – sheets of plexiglass of two metres cut by laser and printed with UV rays -, in which the themes of architecture, the city and the environment are linked to photography, sculpture and signs, creating a route/labyrinth. Visitors will be able to travel between the various cities, from Seoul to New York, passing on to Europe via Lisbon, London, Kassel, Palermo and other cities, ending with Venice.
Promoted by the Cultural Association of Villa Pisani Contemporary Art, in partnership with the Veneto Regional Authorities, the exhibition – curated by Walter Guadagnino – is connected with Places and Signs, a series of installations set up by the artist in the Veneto region at the same time as the Venetian exhibition; Candeloro offers a contemporary gaze on cities and architecture with an installation set up in Padua in the portico looking onto Piazza Petrarca, and another in the Palladian Villa Pisani Bonetti at Bagnolo di Lonigo, which has already hosted various important initiatives promoting contemporary art. The inauguration will be held on Saturday 10 April.
The whole project will be documented, enriched and integrated by a stupendous art book, in a limited edition, with texts by the curator, by Elena Forin, Teresa Macrì, Angelica Nollert, Francesca Pola and Tommaso Trini.
