Fortuny Museum on Google Arts & Culture

What we wear is authentic culture and often a work of art. This is the deep meaning of the brand new  “We Wear Culture” project from Google Arts & Culture!

Started in 2014, the collaboration between Fondazione Musei Civici Venezia with Google Arts & Culture opens today the doors of two of the finest Venetian museums to a worldwide audience, making their treasures accessible for everyone.

Among the 180 institutions involved, Fortuny Museum and Palazzo Mocenigo are main steps in retracing an “immersive” fashion history aimed at witnessing the role of the human creative in innovating the “wearable” language and the identity of an entire historical period.
The San Stae Museum, headquartered in the Center for Textile and Costume Studies, will be virtually accessible with google street view technology, while at the atelier of San Beneto, the story of the birth of the Delphos offers the opportunity to tell the art and life partnership between the brilliant Mariano Fortuny and Adèle Henriette Nigrin, his wife and inspirational muse, who fostered, inspired and supported one of the finest artists of the 20th century.
